Testimonials
"Valerie knows the voice, yes. That can hopefully be said of any professional voice teacher. Valerie is set apart because she knows her students. Her nurturing spirit is a key to unlocking the hidden gifts inside each student."
"I have been going to Valerie for over 20 years.
Not only is she a phenomenal teacher, she is a fantastic person. Valerie pours her heart and soul into her students. She is very passionate about their success. Her technique and knowledge are what sets her apart from other teachers. She ensures her students understand why and how we do what we do with our voices.
I can not say enough positive things about Valerie. She has helped me tremendously as a student and as a person. She is my second mom and set of ears. I highly recommend her."
"I started working with Valerie on private voice lessons in 8th grade and continued to do so during my breaks from college. I studied theatre, dance, and musical theatre at the University of Southern California, so I've worked with many voice teachers, and Valerie is by far the best. She is so knowledgeable, and she really cares about her students. No one else has as much knowledge on the technical level of the voice as an instrument as Valerie does. She gave me so much confidence as a performer, and years later, I still look back fondly on the hours spent with her by the piano. Even still use the vocal warm-ups she recorded for me. Anyone who is serious about singing would be lucky to work with Valerie. She really goes above and beyond to support her students."
"I took vocal lessons from Valerie while I was in high school years ago. I am not a strong singer naturally, but with Valerie’s guidance and expert instruction I was able to sing at auditions and in school musicals with confidence.
Also, many of my friends and some siblings were very talented singers and Valerie was the perfect person to help them become professional singers. She not only teaches you how to use your voice, she’s an expert at approaching a song to turn it into a full performance. She helped us all gain great stage presence. I would recommend Valerie to anyone who wants to learn how to use their voice from a novice singer al the way to someone who has the goal of performing on Broadway."
"Valerie Kennedy is the absolute best voice teacher I ever had. I went from an untrained high school sophomore to earnings scholarships as a vocal performance major in college. I ultimately won the Overall Talent Award on the Miss Georgia stage and I wholeheartedly believe I owe it all to Valerie. She is a coach, a confidante, and a friend for life. I have had many different voice teachers/professors and not one of them comes close to understanding the voice like Valerie."
"I have been a student of Valerie’s for over ten years, and she is the best vocal coach I’ve ever known. When I started with Valerie, I was about 12 years old and all I wanted was to be able to belt out Broadway songs. Valerie worked with me on whatever song I wanted to tackle, and never let me get discouraged when I struggled. She’s helped me to expand my range and taught me classical as well as belt and chest voice. She even coached me through times when my voice started to give out. Valerie is more than a teacher to me; she’s a part of my family. No matter your goals, she will help you get there, and you’ll have a blast along the way."
"Valerie played an integral part in helping our son Zac to achieve his goal of studying musical theatre at one of the leading universities in the nation. She not only aided him with vocal coaching, but made college suggestions for him to consider. With Valerie's preparation, The University of Michigan's Department of Musical Theatre accepted Zac as one of 24 students chosen from a pool of about 1400. A 2023 graduate of UM, he will begin his acting career with a lead role in summer stock in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Valerie is more than just a voice teacher. She is fully invested in the success of her students from the beginning. We will always think of her as a friend and be forever grateful for her support and guidance of our son, Zac."
"I studied with Valerie for several years, from the time my voice first changed to the time I went to college. My scholarship to the Boston Conservatory and subsequent career as a professional performer are thanks to the training and mentorship I received in Valerie’s studio.
Valerie’s approach to voice training is all-encompassing. Students can expect a balanced approach, with a great deal of time devoted to proper technique paired with opportunities to perform a wide variety of repertoire. On my first day of conservatory, I was well-prepared to tackle many different styles with confidence, thanks to having a terrific voice teacher!"
"As a parent, Valerie was an absolute gift to us. She took Jessi from an aspiring student all the way to winning the Shuler award for best actress in a high school musical in Georgia. Jessi loved going to Valerie every week where she learned how to control her voice through things like proper breathing. We were able to encourage many other students to sign up with Valerie and she continues to help other people achieve their dreams. Thanks, Valerie!"
"I wish I were a poet or a better writer so that I could properly communicate my infinite gratitude I have for Valerie Kennedy. She was responsible for creating my most cherished memory of my daughter, Olivia. She took a shy, timid teenager with no confidence and masterfully created a talented, young woman. She was able to shape and improve not only her singing voice but her self esteem as well. Olivia gained the assuredness to audition for and get selected to sing at her high school baccalaureate ceremony. She performed “The Climb” in from of hundreds of her classmates and their parents. The song was especially meaningful to Olivia and to me because it perfectly captured her own struggles with just “getting through high school,” which these days, seems so difficult, particularly in the social aspect. Olivia not only sang it so beautifully but she completely knocked it out of the park! Tears of Joy!"
"My daughter Kate took lessons from Valerie for 6 years I believe. She started in 6th grade and continued with her into high school. She participated in the recitals as well. Valerie was a wonderful teacher and mentor. She truly tried to help Kate reach her full potential. I think she saw in Kate a lot and therefore would push her to give the best she could. She is a kind and caring person and that care showed so much in the relationships that she built with her students and their families. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking lessons for their children and young adults."
"Valerie Kennedy is the absolute BEST! She works to develop strong, correct foundational skills with each student. She truly helps them to find their voice and bring their songs to life. Valerie helped our daughter secure a spot in the CCCEPA program, successfully audition for All-State Chorus, land the role of Morticia in The Addams Family and more. Valerie Kennedy will help you achieve your dreams!"
"I am a former 'mature' student of Valerie's. I came for a few lessons with a barbershop quartet and stayed to learn how to expand my vocal range, then to learn how to sing as a a soloist. It was a privilege to be a student of hers for many years and participate in her amazing recitals. I enjoyed meeting and watching her students develop, grow and move on into their musical careers. My biggest regret in leaving Georgia was leaving Valerie who became more than a teacher and mentor, but friend and a sister at heart. We still stay in touch ... but boy do I miss my lessons and friend-not to mention my voice!"
"My daughter worked with Valerie for seven years. Valerie is so dedicated to her students and she truly cares about them and their goals. She helps to prepare her students for college auditions, theater performances, pageant talent performances, chorus solos and so much more. Valerie gave the best coaching and advice. We witnessed her brilliance not only with Lila but with all her students. Valerie instills confidence so even shy performers blossom. She became a very dear friend to us and we miss seeing her weekly. My daughter and I love Valerie and are grateful we found her!"
